2003 was a dynamic time for the College of Education, full of challenges and opportunities. Much of the year was spent formulating the college’s next five-year academic plan. It was a time spent wrestling with expectations, recognizing limitations, and celebrating accomplishments.
This internal reflection resulted in a commitment to developing specific areas of distinction while maintaining essential support for a broad understanding of schooling in a rapidly changing society. Exemplary curricula, effective delivery systems, reputable scholarship, quality faculty and quality students continue as high priorities. Four broad areas of strength were identified as focus areas for the college:
