The Wyoming State Department of Education has funded a grant aimed at endorsing 90 teachers as instructors in English as a Second Language through the University of Wyoming ’s endorsement program.
The grant addresses the current need for ESL instructors to facilitate the learning of nearly 4000 Second Language Learners (SLL) in the State of Wyoming .
Under the grant provisions, the University of Wyoming is offering institutes in locations across the state to provide graduate courses and practicum experiences, leading to the ESL endorsement.
The ESL Endorsement Grant is underway!
Recipients have been notified and are currently signing up for their first class under the provisions of the grant.
Recipients of the ESL Endorsement Grant have a Wyoming teaching certificate and must complete 15 credit hours in the UW ESL endorsement program:
• 3 hours, tuition ($474) paid by the grant recipient’s school district
• 3 hours, tuition ($474) paid by grant recipient
• 9 hours, tuition paid by the ESL Endorsement Grant
The courses offered under the provisions of the grant are administered by UW Outreach. Grant recipients and their school districts are responsible for paying tuition ($474) directly to UW Outreach for the first two three-hour credit courses in the UW ESL endorsement program. To receive the benefits of the grant, starting with the third course, the recipient writes ESL grant in the tuition payment line at registration for each successive class. The grant will pay the tuition directly to UW Outreach. The benefits of the grant are available only for the courses offered by UW Outreach; courses offered by any institution other than UW Outreach, while they may apply to the ESL endorsement, will not be eligible for tuition payment.
Grant recipients register on the first day of each UW Outreach course in the UW ESL Endorsement Program. Before registration, each recipient reserves a place in a class by contacting Francisco Rios

LANG 4750 (3 units). Introduction to Linguistics
LANG 4770 (3 units). Sociolinguistics.
EDCI 4350 (3 units). Introduction to Second Language Acquisition
ENGL 5030 (4 units). English as a Second Language: Theory and Methods
EDCI 5580 (2 units). Supervised Internship in English as a Second Language Education
